January 16, 2025Gypsy Queen Development Update
Dear EGRRA Members and the Greater Grabouw Community,
As Chairman of EGRRA, I would like to personally invite you to an important community meeting regarding the proposed Gypsy Queen development. Many of you may have already received notices about this project, and it is crucial that we come together to engage in the discussion.
The meeting will take place tomorrow evening at 19:00 at the Thusong Centre.
Despite the lack of approval from the ward committee and no formal public participation, the development appears to be moving forward. We must ensure that our voices are heard and that any plans align with the best interests of our community.
Key concerns include:
The proposed erf sizes (15m x 7m) being too small.
The zoning allowing for informal structures, which is not in line with sustainable planning for our town.
A preference for Residential Zoning 1 instead of Zoning 2, to better regulate housing developments.
This is not about opposing the development but rather about shaping it to better suit our community’s needs. Please make every effort to attend—we need your support to advocate for a responsible and well-planned future for Grabouw.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Best regards,
